It all began with a simple act of tidying—sorting through an old sewing box and folding scraps of cloth. As my children grew and left the nest, I found myself looking for a way to fill the quiet spaces they left behind. I discovered that a needle and thread could do more than just mend fabric; they could help mend a heart transitioning into a new chapter of life.

What started as simple felt hearts and small flowers soon blossomed into an inspiration for something more: the creation of Keca dolls. Born in the tranquility of the Jones County countryside, Keca by Carmel is deeply inspired by the traditions and beauty of Georgia.

To celebrate our 3rd anniversary, we are proud to expand the Keca world with my self-published children’s book, "A Georgia Girlhood: Kin by the Soul," and its companion coloring book. Featuring our dolls as characters in a vibrant Georgia landscape, this 24-page full-color poem uses "Georgiaisms" to celebrate our heritage. As a mother and a grandmother, I hope these dolls and stories inspire the same imagination in your family that they have in mine.
